Climate Change is one of the biggest threats we are facing as of now! Let’s get to know what it exactly means.
In simple words, climate change refers to any significant change in the Earth’s climate. It includes major changes in precipitation, wind patterns, temperature, etc. It is very real, and we all need a reality check and take proper actions against it.
The temperatures have been going up around the globe for many decades. The temperature increase on the earth is more specifically known as global warming, which affects the climate on the earth drastically. The effects of climate change are very drastic.
Climate Change: The Causes
What are the causes of Climate Change? It is a question that is needed to be asked by everyone to themselves, because deep down we all know, we are the main reason climate change has been accelerated. While there is a wide range of natural phenomena that can radically affect the earth’s climate, we can all agree that the climate change effects that everyone is witnessing nowadays are the result of human activity.
An excess amount of long-lived greenhouse gases like carbon dioxide, methane and nitrous oxide, etc. is being produced by human activity which unlike water vapor does not dissipate in response to temperature increase which results in a continuous build-up of heat.
Climate Change: The Effects
Severe Wild Fires
Ice mass loss in Greenland, Antarctica, the Arctic, and mountain glaciers
Shifts in flower/plant blooming
Extreme Weather Events, etc. and the list goes on.
We all have been hearing and reading news about what is happening around the world. It’s high time that all humans take responsibility for their actions and improve their impact on the climate and the earth.
What we can do?
Use energy wisely
Use energy-efficient light bulbs.
Unplug electronics when they are not in use.
Wash clothes in cold or room temperature water, not HOT!
Hang-dry washed clothes.
Eat well for a stable climate.
Buy and eat organic and local produce.
Eat fewer meat products.
Grow your own vegetables.
Start talking about CLIMATE CHANGE
The more you talk and spread awareness about climate change, the more people will know and become careful about their actions day-to-day.
Communication and unity are needed to work against climate change.>
Better transportation choices
Take public vehicles or just WALK!
Switch to electric or hybrid vehicles.
Consume less, waste less!
Share, make, fix, recycle, repurpose, and composting.
Invest in renewable and divest from fossil fuels
Invest in clean energy/technology
Get politically active and vote for the right person
Politics and government can make the right choices for any nation so voting for the right representative who is aware of climate change and will make changes is the right one!
So, let us all become aware of climate change and its drastic effects and also share the information. Human activities are one of the main causes of climate change and if we become take responsibility and be careful about our actions, hopefully, we can save the place of the planet we call our home.
